Midland Amateur Radio Club

The Midland Amateur Radio Club meets twice a month on the second and fourth Monday of each month, except for June, July, and August in the Summer and November and December in the Winter at which time the club meets on the second Monday only.

The meetings start at 7:30 PM local time and one can usually find a few hams there around 7:00 PM making coffee and socializing. There is always a fine program or topic of discussion at the meetings. The membership has been on average around 100 or so ham radio enthusiasts since 1955.

The Midland Amateur Radio Club is a very active Amateur Radio Club hosting one of the most successful Swapfests in the Southwestern United States. They also take pride in providing public assistance communications for the "Annual Cactus and Crude MS 150 Bike Ride", and providing education and assistance to the "Boyscouts of America" during the "Jamboree on the Air" each year. MARC can be be counted upon to respond to provide communication during disasters and at a moments notice. During "Field Day" in June you will find the Midland Amateur Radio Club active and working toward making record breaking contacts.

The Midland Amateur Radio Club conducts a 2 meter net every Tuesday evening at 9:00 pm on the 147.300+ repeater. This net is open to all hams in the area that are licensed to operate on these bands.

There are two fully equipped operating positions at the club house. Station #1 is a Yaesu FT-990 with narrow cw filter and auto antenna tuner. It feeds a Cushcraft tri-bander at 60 feet. Station #2 is a Yaesu FT-890, also with auto tuner, feeding a Moseley TA-33 on a 40 ft telephone pole. Other antennas include a G5RV, 80 meter dipole, and 40 meter dipole. The stations are available to club members who may be temporarily out of commission or don't have a station and still want to operate. Arrangements can be made with club officers to secure the use of the building and equipment.

The club house of the Midland Amateur Club is located next to Christensen baseball stadium at Loop 250 and Lamesa Highway, Midland Texas. Keep your eye peeled for 2 very Amateur Radio looking towers and antennas.
