Field Day This Weekend! Print E-mail
Wednesday, 21 June 2017 09:27
The annual ARRL Field Day event is this weekend, June 24 and 25. The Midland Amateur Radio Club will set up and operate from the National Weather Service in Midland. The NWS is located at 2500 Challenger Dr. on the east side of the airport.

MARC will operate in the 3A category. We'll run two CW stations, one SSB/digital station and a VHF station. We'll also have a Get On The Air (GOTA) station. The two CW stations and the SSB station will be located in the old weather service building. The GOTA and VHF stations will be in the conference room of the new weather service building.

We'll begin setting up Friday afternoon. After meeting at the clubhouse at 3 pm to load up equipment we'll head to the field day location and begin setting up. Setup will resume Saturday morning. Your help Friday afternoon and Saturday morning will be much appreciated!

Field Day operating officially kicks off at 1:00 pm Saturday afternoon and continues 24 hours ending at 1:00 pm Sunday afternoon. Everyone is invited to come out, help set up and operate. We'll also need help tearing down Sunday afternoon and hauling everything back to the clubhouse.

Our grill meister, Justin, KF5PEL, plans to cook some burgers for dinner Saturday evening so make plans to attend.

Please make plans to come out for the whole weekend or for whatever time you have available. Field Day is always a great time to learn, get on the air, and visit your fellow area hams.

73 and hope to see you this weekend!
