Ok folks, it's that time of year again. FIELD DAY!!!!!!

This field day should turn out to be one heck of a good time. Food, ham family, friends, food, lots of radio activities, food, American Idol competition next door, food, air conditioning for most operators, and food. Oh, by the way did I mention there will be food?
The forecast shows hot and sunny during the day and warm and dark at night (hmmm dark at night.... who knew). With that being said, everyone need to remember to stay hydrated. Even if you are in the a/c don't forget to hydrate often. Remember that under high heat conditions and high exertion conditions (IE. setup and tear down), you should be hydrating enough to do #1 at least once every 60-90 minutes.
Thanks to our FD committee. It has been a long 4+ months putting this all together and now that the plans have been tweaked, reworked, thrown in a blender, shook up and sorted out this should turn out to be one heck of a field day. Please thank all the FD members.
OK... here are the plans:
08:00 everyone meet at the clubhouse to load up
~08:30 travel to Beal Park MSA pavilion
- JT will have coffee ready
- Atmos trailer will be on scene
- POB trailer on scene
~09:00 antenna assembly and tower raising starts
~09:30 Region 18 TOW vehicle and JRAC com trailer arrives
By ~11:30 all stations, scoring laptops, rotor controls should be set up, configured and tested.
~13:00 FOOD!!!! Our Master Chef will have food starting to come off the grill for all to enjoy
**** food will be available throughout the Field Day activities***
A few things to remember about operations.....
- Get on a frequency and start calling CQ. Let them come to you. The stations will start piling up quickly if you just stay in one place for a bit rather than looking all over the dial and hoping to get through in another pileup.
- Let's all look out for visitors. There will be a lot places to tuck yourself away in the a/c to operate. Please don't forget about our visitors that want to see "how it's done".
This year there will be more towers, equipment, generators and fun than the last few years. Let's all get together and show these other WTX stations how it is done and how to have fun doing it.
PLEASE DON'T FORGET...... just like we need all hands on deck to setup..... we need all hands on deck to tear down. Just because the radios go silent doesn't mean the activities are over.
