What Happened at the Meeting? Print E-mail
Monday, 23 February 2009 21:52

At tonight's meeting it was voted to purchase an Elecraft K3/100 complete with tuner, filters, TCXO, and microphone.  There was also a discussion on purchasing a computer projector and large screen but this was tabled until after the hamfest.  It was voted that the FT-990 should be sent off to have the transmit audio problems repaired.

We received a reply to the request Robert Wood, W5AJ, made to HEB to donate some food items to the club for use in the concession stand at the hamfest.  HEB stated they were unable to grant out request.

Mike Partusch, KC5MAI, presented the program.  It was a PowerPoint presentation on HF Mobile Installation and Operation from the ARRL.

Welcome to the New MARC Website! Print E-mail

Welcome to the new MARC website.  It is still under construction slightly to have the same information as the old website but it was decided to go ahead and make it live.

In addition to the new site the Gallery has been updated.  It has a few new fancy features.  Check it out!

You may find this website doesn't load quite as fast as the old one.  This site uses a content management system called Joomla and dynamically builds the webpages from a database.  Depending on the load on the server it may load faster or slower at different times.  Hopefully it will work out for us!

If you find any dead links or something not working please send an email to the Webmaster.

W5AJ Takes #1 & #2! Print E-mail
Friday, 13 February 2009 17:48

Congratulations to Robert Wood (W5AJ) of Midland for receiving the ARRL's Triple Play WAS Award # 54 on January 27. Robert is the first operator in the West Texas Section to receive the Triple Play Award and only the 2nd Texan to qualify. The Triple Play requires an operator to work and confirm QSOs with each of the 50 states on voice, CW and digital modes. All 150 QSOs must be confirmed by the Logbook of the World (LoTW).

Robert qualified for the ARRL's newest award in only 27 days!
