Field Day 2000 Was A Success!

Field Day 2000 and the dinner get together Fri. night at the club
house was a success and those in attendance got their fill of fried chicken, potato salad, green salad, beans and something to drink. Thanks to Beverly for
picking up the food and all those who helped set it up  and to Bev and Ted's grand kids for the
table decorations. Claudette and Mary Lou and Pat and all, it was great. We ate and snacked on the leftovers at the field day site.
    The actual Field Day started
Sat morning about 9 am at the Haley Park south of the Haley Library. There were several
trips to the clubhouse to gather all of the equipment we used. June 24th was predicted
somewhat warm but there was a good breeze blowing and it
wasn't too bad to  endure.
The setup crew started by setting up two stations and stringing the antennas in the trees. I had originally planned to have the two

when the club generator ran out of gas. Note!! for next year and any other emergency use it uses about one gal/hour of fuel. The club made a little less than 500 contacts, 474 to be exact, but we had a lot of fun.
I want to thank the setup crew, Ken Williams K5JOG, Alan Williams K8SIN, Ted
Harwood W5WTX, John Wilder WA5PFJ, son John Wilder (call is sequential to his dad but I don't remember which way sorry John), Johnny Bragg KD5HGB, and his mesh tent, Dwayne
Fox W5ZOX, Mitch Martin WA5ZAP, and some I missed. We were disappointed in the number of operators, but had fun anyway thanks to John Wilder, son John Wilder, Alan Williams, Robert Boyd KC5ZJO, Ted
Harwood, Dwayne Fox , Mitch Martin and maybe someone else when I was so sleepy about 5:30 Sun morning.
