Mark Ellis Hilton, N5PRX, 1948-1999

Mark Ellis Hilton was born on February 1,1948, in Lansing, Michigan. He was the son of Vern and Virginia Hilton. He was baptized, grew up and was educated in Holt, Michigan, graduating in 1963 from Holt, Michigan High School. After graduation Mark volunteered for military service and spent four years in the United States Navy. He and his ship were actively engaged in the Vietnam War. When he returned to civilian life he also returned to school, attending first Lansing Community College and then Western Michigan University, where he also met his future bride, Cynthia Nobis. On August 12, 1972, he was united in marriage to Cynthia. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Jessica and Megan. The family lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan for nine years before moving to Midland in 1981, where they made their home ever since. Mark worked as a geologist in the oil fields of West Texas & Eastern New Mexico. After that he joined the laboratory staff of Midland Memorial Hospital as a Medical Technician, Mark got his amateur radio license on December 12, 1989. His current call is N5PRX. Mark is survived by his wife, Cynthia of the home and two daughters-Jessica Hilton Diaz of Midland, and Megan Hilton Shultz of Midland - one grandson. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia Hilton and a sister Susan Hilton, both of Bradenton, Florida. Mark died in his sleep on August 18,1999 in Midland, Texas. Besides the local service, there will be another service, Saturday, August 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fowler, Michigan. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Hymns sung at his funeral included: For All the Saints, Beautiful Savior, I Know That My Redeemer Lives. I will always remember him.
