Letter from Ray Fagen, KC5JHC

I apologize for not sending articles every month. Been very busy filling in for the forecast staff on day shifts, evening shifts and mid-shifts. We have been short three meteorologists since summer. One new forecaster is arriving later this month and two more meteorologists are arriving in Jan/Feb. This autumn's secondary severe weather season has been nonexistent. The forecast for this winter is warm and dry. The outlook for this spring is a return to a typical weather pattern, which means active severe weather plus a fire weather threat with all the dry vegetation and springtime winds. I will provide you some updated SKYWARN materials for your newsletters prior to the spring severe weather season. Hope to see you soon. Please stop by and visit the weather office when you get a chance! Also, check out our frequent updates on our Home Page: www.srh.noaa.gov/ma

Best Regards, Ray, KC5JHC
